My Favorite Holiday Movies

Happy Thanksgiving!! I am celebrating it sick in bed 🙁 Just kidding, we already celebrated yesterday with a delicious meal and 2 exciting episodes of Survivor. Not kidding about the sick part though, I actually am sick in bed. But now that it’s Thanksgiving, all the Christmas naysayers can finally shush and we can fully celebrate Christmas!!!! To get into the spirit, today for the 12 Days of Kaelamas I’m sharing my favorite holiday movies 🙂

It’s a Wonderful Life is a CLASSIC !!!! and one of my absolute favorites. At work in our break room somebody always brings it in around the holidays and I always have tolook away and low key try not to cry at the end lol. It’s one of my ultimate favorites. It really is such a feel good movie and makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. IT’S JUST SO GOOD!!!!!!!!

White Christmas is Chris’s favorite and one of mine too. It’s another one that’s such a classic and makes you feel super homey and Christmasy. We haven’t watched it yet this year but now that I’m writing about it I feel we will have to soon…Bing Crosby’s beautiful voice just makes warms your heart right up!!! It is a Christmas treat!!!

Home Alone isn’t one I hear mentioned a lot and Chris tried to tell me it wasn’t a Christmas movie….but I love this movie. It reminds me of my childhood so much because I just remember watching it all the time when I was younger. And now at work basically the entire soundtrack is played in our lobby so I am always reminded of it haha

A Christmas Story isn’t my FAVORITE but I still think it’s a classic. Chris thinks this one is super overrated which it kinda is but I still like it haha. I didn’t like it as much as a child and gradually appreciated more as I got older. Plus I literally made a “you’ll shoot your eye out” joke to Chris yesterday. So clearly it’s still relevant enough to be referenced in regular conversation.

grinch

How the Grinch Stole Christmas was one of my favorites as a child, but ONLY the animated one…the live action one freaks me out!!! But the old one is so cute and reminds me of being a wee lass and watching this around Christmas. My mom said she doesn’t like this one because she feels like the dog got the short end of the stick but I think he is fine by the end of the story hahaha

Elf is another one that I think is kind of overrated but I still like it a lot. It’s another one we have on in the break room at work a lot lately. It’s a little cheesy, and a little overhyped, but it’s also fun and silly and definitely helps you get in the Christmas spirit.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is one that my mom mentioned when I asked what her favorite Christmas movies are. She said it used to make her cry lol because “that island of all the poor little unwanted abandoned toys was very traumatic for me” hahaha but this is a really good one. The puppets are cute and it’s very charming!

muppet.png

The Muppet Christmas Carol is probably my favorite Christmas movie. I love the Muppets in anything so…obviously. Does life really get better than the Muppets retelling the story of A Christmas Carol? With Michael Caine playing Scrooge?? And the soundtrack is so amazing, I have several songs on my Christmas playlists. “It Feels Like Christmas” is a staple in our home. Muppet haters are not welcome in my life.

Honorable mentions are the animated Frosty the Snowman and the stop motion Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Year Without a Santa Claus, and though the animation of the Polar Express freaks me out, I’ve been meaning to watch it again to see if my opinion has changed on it haha. I love Christmas movies!!!! Hope you enjoyed reading about my faves <3

see ya next time 😀 Kaela
