Friday Favorites #2 – 1/27

Welcome to the second edition of Friday Favorites! Again I have some fun stuff to share this week, so let’s jump right in 🙂

The Keurig K15 Classic Brewing System

keurig

I’ve never been a heavy coffee drinker, but I like a cup every now and then. Our roommate is decidedly a coffee drinker though, and she recently acquired a new Keurig. It seems silly that I didn’t know how to use it, but I was clueless – my family never drank coffee at home growing up! She quickly taught me how to use it and I was mesmerized. I can literally press a button and take Teddy out in the morning, and I come back to a delicious beverage…it’s amazingly convenient!!! I don’t drink coffee every day, but I will have a nice cup on days when I need a little pick me up and I frequently make hot chocolate too. We’re going to have to invest in one of those cute carousels to store all of our K-cups soon! Some of my favorites are the Starbucks Caramel K-cups and this hot chocolate sampler I got from Amazon 🙂

Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Dip

Pic from Gimme Some Oven (who has a similar recipe!)

I’ve made this a bunch of times but it’s in my favorites this week  because I made it on Tuesday! We had a few friends over this week to play Werewolves (the murderous game I talked about in my top 5 post) and I made this dip along with some other tiny foods, and it was a hit. I originally got this recipe from a lady I work with, but it’s been shared a lot online too. It’s just hot enough to be delicious without burning your tongue off. And it’s ridiculously easy too – you pretty much throw all the ingredients together and then sit it in the crockpot for an hour. I’m trying to start using my crockpot more and this is a super easy recipe to get started with!

Ingredients:

  • 1 8-oz package of cream cheese, softened
  • 2 12-oz OR 3 10-oz cans of chunk chicken, drained
  • 1 cup ranch dressing (liquid dressing, not dry mix)
  • 1 package shredded Mexican cheddar cheese (about 2 cups)
  • 1 cup Frank’s Red Hot Sauce
  • Tortilla chips, Doritos, or crackers for serving
  • Feta or blue cheese crumbles for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  • Mix the cream cheese and ranch dressing until combined. Add the chicken, cheese, and hot sauce one at a time and mix until combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula in between.
  • Scoop the mixture into the crock pot and stir a few more times. cook on high for about one hour or until the cheese is totally melted and the mixture is gooey. Leave on low or warm while serving. Garnish with cheese crumbles.
  • Refrigerate remaining mixture in a bowl for up to 2 weeks.

So simple but so delicious!! I am eating the leftovers right now!!!

Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream

mizonrecoverygelcream

My only beauty item this week, but this could honestly be a favorite every week because I love it so much. If you’re at all familiar with Korean skincare you probably have heard of Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream. It’s a moisturizing gel that’s multi-purpose – it speeds up healing of blemishes, moisturizes dry skin, soothes irritated spots, prevents future blemishes from popping up…it’s amazing. Seriously, this stuff is a miracle product. I can put this on a spot where I can feel a breakout forming and the next day it’s literally GONE. This might sound gross because it has “snail goo” in it, but it’s so gentle and the healing properties of snail secretions are undeniable – seriously, they are scientifically proven to speed up the healing of wounds. When those nasty red and angry blemishes pop up, usually around my period (sorry if that’s TMI), I can put this on them and it helps so much to soothe my skin and make them heal faster. And how can you be freaked out by the cute little snail on the pretty pink packaging?! This isn’t widely available in the US yet but you can get it pretty cheap on Amazon. You might want to go ahead and get the two-pack like I do so you’re never without a backup!

“The Schuywalker Sisters” Mug by Mariana Avila

mug

I received this mug from my amazing friend Sarah for Christmas, and it’s pretty much one of the best things I own now. It’s a mashup of the Schuyler Sisters from Hamilton and the three leading ladies from the Star Wars movies, Leia, Rey, and Padme. It combines two of my favorite things and the art is SO cute!! This mug is also a really nice size and I’ve been using it a lot lately…you may have spotted it in a recent instagram post 🙂 The artist has tons of other great work too, her style is so cute and I love following her instagram! Sarah also gave me a Disney Princess mug from the same artist that I used this morning…safe to say they are some of my new favs <3

Bath & Body Works Cinnamon Caramel Swirl 3-Wick Candle

candle

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this on the blog before, but I (along with both people I live with) may have a slight candle obsession. We pretty much always have one burning and we have probably like 50 candles between the three of us. This candle from Bath & Body Works is a relatively new one for us – but it smells SO good!! The caramel scent is really strong and delicious, and the cinnamon gives it an interesting touch.I think this candle was a holiday one so it’s no longer available, so we are trying (and failing) to burn it slowly so it doesn’t run out so quickly!!

Our Wedding Letter from the Obamas

You may have seen this on instagram, but OMG this is easily the best thing to happen to me this week. A few months ago I read about how you could request a greeting from the White House for your wedding or other event. I had to lie and say we were getting married in January 2017 to get it before they left office haha. I know it’s just a generic card they send to everyone, but I look up to Barack and Michelle a lot and this brightened my day so much. Especially now that they’re out of office, it’s even more special and Chris and I were really glad to have received it this week 🙂 The card says: “Congratulations to you on your wedding day. May this special time be blessed with love, laughter, and happiness. We wish you all the best as you embark on your journey together, and we hope your bond grows stronger with each passing year.” <3 PS: my other favorite thing in this pic – Chris got me those flowers for no reason other than wanting to make me happy. What a guy.

That’s my Friday Favorites for this week! Hope you enjoyed this post and maybe found some new things to try! What were your favorite things this week?

see you next time! <3 Kaela
