My Travel Bucket List

Traveling is something I love to do more than almost anything else in my life. When I was little, my family would take so many fun vacations, and I’m so grateful for all the places I’ve been able to visit so far – I’ve been to Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Mexico, Canada, and 37 US states ! I know it’s cliche and most people love to travel, but it really is something that just makes me so happy. I love trying fun foods, exploring new places, and trying to take as many photos as possible to somehow hold on to all the amazing memories. Our last big vacation was Seattle and Disneyland and it was incredible!!

Unfortunately, now that I’m an “adult” and have to “save money”, our traveling is much less frequent. But that doesn’t mean I’m not still constantly daydreaming of all the places I want to go! I make fantasy trip plans for fun, I have a list a million miles long of all the things I want to see and experience, and I even made a custom google map with little markers and notes all over it. Someday I hope to have a job that allows me to travel all over the world, but for now, here’s a few of my top picks…

My Travel Bucket List

Hawaii

This one is kind of a cheat because I know we are going here in the near(ish) future – me and Chris are planning to honeymoon in Hawaii! We plan to go to Aulani but also other parts and islands to get a full experience. My family actually lived in Hawaii for a while before I was born, so my parents have a special connection to it and I’ve always wanted to go. Specific things on my list for when we go include going to a (real) luau, seeing a volcano, going to the Dole pineapple plantation, and visiting a black sand beach like Punalu’u!

Japan

Japan is somewhere I’ve wanted to go for years now…it just seems like such a beautiful place filled with so much culture and very different from the US. I want to try all the interesting food, ride the bullet train, go to all the different shops in Shibuya, see a Buddhist temple, and even the weird places like the Iwatayama Monkey Park in Kyoto! And of course, I’m DYING to go to Tokyo Disneyland!!! I want to visit all the Disney parks in the world, but Tokyo’s is definitely number one on my wishlist. A trip to Japan is one of my big dreams and I hope I’ll get to go there sometime soon.

England

England is another destination I’ve wanted to visit for a LONG time, since I was very young. The thing is, I’ve actually been to England but it was when I was extremely little (I think like 3?) and I don’t remember anything at all! Now that I’m older and able to comprehend everything, I really want to go back. It doesn’t hurt that Chris proposed to me in Epcot UK….so now of course I feel obligated to go to the real UK! I want to see all the touristy things – London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, shopping at Harrods, all that good stuff. This is one of the trips on this list that I think is probably actually doable in the next few years for us – I’d love to combine it with a trip to my next bucket list place….

France

…France! This is another one I’ve actually been to before, but not nearly long enough! When my family visited France we only stopped in Strasbourg which is right near the German border, since our main destination was Germany for that trip. I specifically really want to go to Paris. Again, obviously I want to go to Disneyland Paris – but I also want to see the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, maybe go to the Palace of Versailles or even see a show at the Moulin Rouge! I also really want to see the Catacombs but Chris has nixed that idea preemptively hahaha

South Africa

This one is way out there but it’s a place I would LOVE to visit! There are so many beautiful reserves and national parks – I think it would be amazing to do a safari that’s the real deal! We’d also have to visit Cape Town, and go to Boulders Beach to see the warm weather penguins Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater which are actually in Tanzania rather than South Africa…maybe we’d have to make it a multi-country trip! Africa is so full of culture and beauty in nature and I would love to see it in person.

Costa Rica

This may be another cheating one because I might get to go there soon, because one of my best friends actually lives in Costa Rica! There are so many cool things to do there, but the very first thing on my list is to visit the Animal Rescue Center and hang out with the sloths! I’d also want to go visit the Rincón de la Vieja volcano and the hot springs at Arenal, and a beach of course! Maybe we’d even throw in a fun zip lining adventure…basically, we’re making this trip into a Survivor reward challenge prize hahaha

Australia

Finally, the furthest place on this list (I think?) has to be Australia. There’s lots of things I want to see and do there, including of course seeing a show at the Sydney Opera House. I want to see the Sydney Harbor Bridge (just SEE, probably not climb!!) and just hang out at Darling Harbor too! I hear they also have beaches with penguins here so might as well check those out as well. Maybe we’d have to hop over to New Zealand and throw in some stuff to do there…if I had an unlimited budget I would love to do both 🙂

That’s my travel bucket list, for now! I want to go SO many places, it was hard to narrow it down to just these. This is by no means an exhaustive list – if I could go everywhere I would!!! Honestly my dream is to be able to quit my job and travel the world with no inhibitions…. Hopefully I’ll be able to go to to all these places someday but until we reach that point I will keep my day job haha. I hope you enjoyed this post! What are some places you want to visit?

as always, thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time! <3 Kaela
