Macy’s Spa Set Review – $90 Value?

Today I have a bit of a different review, but I’m putting it in the beauty boxes category because it’s a set of beauty items and it arrived in a box….haha

This is the Macy’s 8 Piece Spa Gift Set:

bag

This is basically just a gift set of a bunch of different “spa” products. I originally saw it on My Subscription Addiction where they posted that it was marked down from $25 to $12.50. It has 6 deluxe samples of skin products, a headband and a bag. I was intrigued because it says this is a $90 value…………we’ll see about that *detective emoji*

These are the products included in the set:

all

  • Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Exfoliating Cleanser – $9.11 value. This cleanser is really smooth with tiny little exfoliating beads that are surprisingly soft and non-abrasive. It smells expensive.
  • Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Hand Cream – $5.23 value. I’ve used this a few times since receiving this and it is SO nice – you only need a little bit to get super moisturized. It smells like a really fancy expensive spa treatment….which I guess is the point.
  • Clarins Beauty Flash Balm – $14.12 value. This appears to be a primer of sorts? The back of the bottle says to apply without rubbing in which is very strange. It’s supposed to help brighten and tighten your skin.
  • Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator – $9.88 value. I probably will pass this on to someone else because I really don’t like physical exfoliation products. They feel like I’m rubbing sand on my face. I tried this on the back of my hand and it did not feel nice haha. Also this has a SUPER strong minty smell, but not in a nice way…it’s like straight out the dentist chair smell.
  • Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Repair Eye Serum – $28.22 value. This is a very lightweight serum for reducing the appearance of dark undereye circles. As a person with very dark undereye circles this is appealing to me! I just ran out of my other eye cream so this came at a perfect time.
  • Lancôme Advanced Youth Activating Concentrate – $13.90 value. This is another serum and I guess it’s anti-aging…there are a lot of anti-aging products in here and I have a feeling this box was not targeted at me but it’s fine haha. I actually have received a sample of this before but it was just one of those foil samples so you can’t really get a feel for how the product reacts with your skin. I’m interested in trying this for a few days to see if there’s any noticeable results.

So the value of the products all together is $80.46…which is a lot closer to $90 than I expected it to be!! That means they’re implying that the bag and the headband together are about a $10 value, which might be a bit of a stretch but it works. I am actually shocked because I did not expect the value of these samples to be anywhere near $90 haha. But I guess they are!!

The bag itself is pretty cute, nice and sturdy and I’ll probably use it to hold bath products or something. The headband is higher quality than I expected it to be – it looks really small but is surprisingly stretchy. It’s nothing special though, the value of this set is obviously in the products and not this headband that probably cost them like $1 to make haha

So I guess it WAS worth $90?? Or close enough? I think this is a cute gift set and regardless of the “true” value, it’s definitely worth the discounted price of $12.50. I’m not sure I’d take the plunge if it was the full price of $25, but it’s really not a bad deal for the discounted price! Unfortunately this exact set is no longer available, but if history repeats itself it may come back sometime in the future!

I hope you enjoyed this post! I really love getting these little sets and trying to figure out if they’re actually valued at what is claimed. And I love sample size items because it’s an easy way to try out lots of new things. If you like posts like this be sure to check out my other reviews of beauty boxes on my blog! Thanks for reading 🙂
