Walt Disney World Date Ideas

Happy Valentine’s Day! Chris and I aren’t hugely into Valentine’s Day like some people, but it’s as good of an excuse as any for us to do something fun and spend time together. This year is a special one for us because it is our last Valentine’s Day before we get married!! I thought for a special Valentine’s Day themed post I would share some of our favorite date spots at Walt Disney World <3 These are perfect places to take your significant other for Valentine’s Day or another special occasion, whether you’re a local or here on vacation.

A Fancy Dinner

Starting with the obvious – a classy dinner is always a good choice. There are so many excellent Disney restaurants, and a lot of my favorites are actually at the resorts rather than the parks. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge is up there – we went there for Chris’s birthday in 2015 and it was SUCH a great experience. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is even better. We love Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge too, where we went for Valentine’s Day two years ago. We also really enjoyed Citricos at the Grand Floridian, where we went for our first Valentine’s Day together! I love eating at the resorts and then taking a pleasant stroll around the lobby or outside area after dinner.

Of course, if the parks are more your style, there are lots of great options there too! Not every park restaurant is all burgers and fries (and I actually hate that stereotype because rarely does a Disney restaurant serve only burgers and fries haha)…there are lots of nice date spots too. Epcot in particular has lots of romantic places imo – almost all of the restaurants around World Showcase would be great picks. I particularly love Le Cellier for their poutine…and cheddar cheese soup…and steaks… yum!!! I haven’t been to Monsieur Paul, but I also think that one would be a great choice with the cozy atmosphere and French menu. Tutto Italia in Italy or San Angel Inn in Mexico are also great choices! If your park plans take you elsewhere, you could also enjoy an old Hollywood classic vibe with a meal at Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or the obvious choice – a meal fit for a princess at Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom.

Carriage Ride at a Disney Resort

This is something on the list that Chris and I haven’t done yet, but I definitely want to sometime! Horse drawn carriage rides are offered at Port Orleans Riverside and Fort Wilderness Campground. Each ride is 25 minutes long and costs $45 – which is actually a pretty good deal! I just think it’s such a cute and romantic idea and would be perfect for a date with your significant other. There’s also a sleigh ride around the holidays too, which I’m sure is lovely as well!!

A Dessert Party or Fireworks Cruise

Special events like dessert parties and fireworks cruises make nighttime shows even more exciting!! There’s a different event for each park’s nighttime show – whether you like prefer Illuminations, Wishes, or even the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular fireworks show, there’s a dessert party in it for you. I’m itching to try out that Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party myself!! These are bit more pricey at $50-70 per person, but it makes for a really fun night that would be perfect for a special occasion. If you really want to go all out, there’s also the Ferrytale Wishes Fireworks Dessert Cruise for $99 a person, which takes place on the MK ferry boats for a great view of the fireworks.

Dinner and a Movie at the AMC Dine-In Theatre at Disney Springs

This one is particularly special for Chris and me because our first date was to the Dine-In theatre!! We saw Saving Mr. Banks there and I still have the tickets from it in my wallet <3 We’ve gone back a few times since then for our anniversary and it’s always a lot of fun. It really combines the cliche dinner-and-a-movie date well, and the food is actually very good! We love going to the movie and then going for an evening walk around Disney Springs afterward when it’s less crowded.

Spend an Evening at The Boardwalk

When I say the Boardwalk, I actually mean the Boardwalk and the entire surrounding area…because I love the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts so much too! Chris and I have spent many an afternoon walking around the Boardwalk and enjoying all the entertainment and food offerings there. You can also rent a surrey bike to ride around the Boardwalk in style!! We particularly love finishing off the trip with a stop for ice cream at Ample Hills Creamery or Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club. It makes for a really fun time spent together!! 🙂

Stroll Around World Showcase

This one is kind of lame but I kinda feel like I have to include it because Epcot/World Showcase is such a big part of our relationship haha. I feel like when Chris and I are at a Disney place, like 80% of the time it’s going to be Epcot. We love just walking through World Showcase (especially when all the fun festivals are going on, so we can sample things on the way!) and enjoying all the offerings of the different countries. And of course, we love reminiscing in the UK at the spot we got engaged 🙂 It’s a really personal and special thing for us(/me) and I love spending time there! This is also how we celebrated our Valentine’s Day this year yesterday – going around Epcot and exploring the Festival of the Arts together!

Honestly, any activity at Disney could be romantic if you go about it in the right way. I love just spending time with Chris no matter where we are, so it doesn’t really matter what we’re doing to make it a “date night”! On the other hand, most of these activities would be super fun to do with your friends or family too – I especially think getting your friends together to walk around the Boardwalk and rent a surrey bike would be so much fun!!

I hope you enjoyed this post and thanks for reading as always! What places would you most want to go on a Disney date? I still haven’t officially booked anything for my birthday, so I’m in the market for ideas… 🙂

<3! Kaela
