Review: Tarte Tarteist Pro Palette

Last month I wrote about my top 5 frivolous products I would buy at Sephora if I was made of money. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to receive one of those products as a birthday gift from my dear friend Lauren – the Tarte Tarteist Pro Eyeshadow Palette!

palette

Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL? I was actually considering buying it for myself for my birthday, so I was beyond surprised and excited when Lauren got it for me as a birthday gift! So thoughtful and lovely, that one <3

This palette is something I’d been eyeing for a while and I’m so happy to have it now. I’ve never used Tarte eyeshadow before but I’ve used a lot of their other products and really loved them. This palette features 20 shades – 16 matte and 4 shimmer.

Please forgive my reflection in that photo haha. I really love how the shades look all laid out in the palette like that – you can easily see how each row would create a cohesive look

I won’t outline every shade here – Temptalia can do that for you – but I did swatch them all! First two rows:

And bottom rows:

My favorite shades are Classic, a beautiful silky light yellow; Fierce, a dusty purple-taupe, Drama, a burgundy-plum; Minx, a shimmery reddish brown; and Trendy, that beautiful duochrome green/brown color at the bottom. All the shimmery shades are honestly stunning and look great on the eyes. The matte shades are all extremely soft and apply really smoothly.

My first time using the palette I did a neutral eye look because I was going to work (story of my life!!!) but I think it turned out really nice:

On my eyes here I used Vintage in my inner corner, Bold blended out in the crease, Glam on the lid, Smoked on the outer corner, Classic on the brow bone, and then a little bit of Indie on the lower lash line with a pencil brush.

I need to get a better camera or something because closed-eye shadow looks just do not come across well on an iphone camera haha

The palette also came with some ideas for shadow looks:

I don’t know if anyone actually ever recreates these ideas, but I think it’s cool when palettes include little sheets like this. I also got one with my Kat Von D Shade + Light palette and they were all really pretty, so I might have to give these a try too!

All in all I absolutely love this palette. I think it has a great variety of shades, with a lot of neutrals and a few bold colors. You can easily create a lot of different looks with just one palette, which I love! I have a big collection of eyeshadow and I don’t mind reaching for different palettes sometimes, but it’s nice to be able to just grab one and do everything with it.

At $53, I really feel like this palette is a great value despite seeming a bit pricey. For the price you get 20 shadows that are great quality and can really create a complete look. It’s also a great size for travel! I’ve been using it for a few days now and I really love it <3

That’s all for my review!! I hope you enjoyed this post and check out some of my other makeup posts if you did 🙂 thanks for reading!!
