Chraela Wedding Planning: 7.5 Months Out

Today it has been one year since Chris proposed to me!!!!

proposal-1

In the spirit of all things wedding, I figured it’s been a while since my last update so it’s time for another post! A lot of good things have happened since then so I’m really excited to talk about it. We have 7 and a half months until the big day and things are starting to get exciting!!

Venue

Last time I wrote about this we had booked our venue and we just visited again last week to discuss decor and details. I am SO pleased with our venue…the coordinator of the venue is beyond amazing and every time we visit I become more sure that we made the right decision. Everyone is so helpful and excited with us! With our venue we booked a package they offer that includes…basically everything. We were lucky enough that the day we visited, they were already set up for an upcoming wedding a few days later that had very similar colors to ours!

The coordinator told us that the upcoming wedding was more simple because it was a brunch buffet, whereas ours will be a plated dinner, but it was still fun to see what kind of options we had. Our tables and centerpieces will also be much more elaborate than the ones we saw because I am very extra haha

Speaking of centerpieces…they also had a ton of centerpiece options and pieces that we can use, and we had lots of fun shopping through those.

I can’t say enough how excited I am about our venue. They have so many resources and are so helpful and willing to do whatever it takes to make our day amazing. I could not be more thrilled with our choice!!

Attire

Since I last wrote, I have picked up my wedding dress!!! Next step on my list is to find somewhere to do alterations for me. Anyone have any recommendations for a good seamstress in Orlando?? 🙂

When Sarah & Ana visited we also took some time to look at bridesmaids’ dresses and found a few that we really liked! Now that the bridal party has been asked, we will probably start ordering those soon.

Invites & Stationery

We’ve gotten some good work done on the stationery part of things!! Ana has started designing our invites and we had our lovely friend take some engagement photos for us too, which will probably be used for our save the dates! I also ordered a sample wedding invite from a DIY site and it was PERFECT – exactly what I was hoping for:

I love that pocket style and the colors are precisely what I wanted. Once we get everything finalized we’ll start ordering and sending them all out! For addressing purposes, I have my eye on some fun stamps and tools to help us make them look beautiful 🙂

Flowers & Decor

Like I said, we stopped by our venue to discuss decor options and it was very encouraging! The venue provides pretty much everything except the flowers so it’s going to make everything so easy. I’m still toying with the idea of doing the flowers ourselves, especially since the venue makes everything else so easy. We found this amazing website that provides tons of instructions and tutorials for doing your own wedding flowers, and you can order as many or as few as you need. I made this really sloppy mashup of some of the different flower types we liked to see how they looked together haha

So there’s that. The jury is still out on whether we’re going to do it ourselves but we’ll figure that out!!

Honeymoon

We have officially booked all flights for our honeymoon!!!!! My parents are WIZARDS at getting good airline deals and had set up price alerts for all the flights we needed and they are all booked! We’ll be flying out to California very early the day after our wedding and spending about a day and a half there, before starting the Hawaii leg of our trip when we fly into Kauai. From there we’ll be doing a bit of island hopping to the Big Island and Oahu, where we’ll spend the end of our trip at Aulani!! We also have booked one out of our five hotels so we are really getting the ball rolling here. I am SO excited to plan everything…as soon as we finished booking all the flights I immediately got the itch to keep booking everything else, so I’m sure there will be more developments on that part soon haha. I can’t wait!!

Odds & Ends

  • Our photographer is booked!!! He’s a family friend from back in Virginia and he’s taken photos for us in the past, and I know he’s going to do an amazing job for us again. I’m so glad to have this one booked and locked down!
  • Our officiant is also BOOKED! We picked someone who has done hundreds of weddings in the area and came very highly recommended by our venue. His reviews are pretty much amazing across the board, and after talking to him I can see why! He’s soooo nice and wonderful to talk to, I know we made a great choice.
  • Our wedding website is coming together!! We’re updating it with all our info as we go along and I can’t wait to add more nice photos of us to it. Our good friend Sarah took some engagement photos for us a few days ago (since our photographer is based out of VA lol) and she gave us a sneak peek – I am OBSESSED I can’t wait to see them all!!

Next up…

I think we’re getting a lot done and doing really well staying on track. Things I want to have done by the end of the month:

  • Finish designing invites and save the dates, send save the dates??
  • Find somewhere to do alterations for my dress
  • Research and (maybe) book DJ
  • Research cake options and set up at least 1 tasting

I think we’re doing pretty good!! It’s not as stressful as I had imagined but…we’re still 7 months out haha. I’m so excited about our progress and I can’t wait to do even more. Wedding planning doesn’t have to be stressful…I hope haha

I hope you enjoyed this post!! I can’t wait to write more as we plan every aspect of our exciting day. Be sure to check out the story of our proposal at the top of this post if you haven’t already – I get a little teary-eyed when I remember how great that day was haha. Hope you have a great day and thank you for reading as always!!
