Chraela Wedding Planning: 6 Months Out!

It’s hard to believe that as of today we are SIX MONTHS away from our wedding!! We are closer than ever and six months sounds like such a short amount of time. BUT I’m happy to say that since my last update post we’ve gotten loads of things done!!

Engagement Photos

Of course one of the biggest things since my last post was we got engagement photos taken!! Our generous friend Sarah took some photos for us at Epcot and we are so in love with how they turned out. I already wrote a whole post with all of them, but here are a few of my favorites:

Vendors

We have made some SERIOUS progress with vendors in the last month or so and I am so happy to have booked so many important things!! Toward the tail end of June we booked our DJ who seems super professional and amazing. For a while we considered doing music and all that ourselves using just an ipod or whatever, but we decided it was worthwhile to get an actual DJ instead rather than try to make it work another way. He also cut us a pretty good deal for booking in advance and we are so excited to work with him.

Also this month, something I am beyond thrilled about – we booked our photobooth! We knew basically from the beginning that we wanted a photobooth for the reception. It’s going to be such a fun touch and I really think our guests are going to enjoy it.

trying cake

Finally, we also started doing some cake tastings this month!! We’ve only done one so far but it was a lot of fun. I think we will probably end up going with the first one we tried because they were affordable for what we want and super tasty, but we want to go visit a few more places to consider all our options. And because tasting cakes is fun.

Attire

Last post I wrote about how we had basically picked a bridesmaid dress and I am super excited that 2/4 of our girls have now ordered it!! I’m so excited, it’s such a beautiful dress and I think it’s going to look great on everyone. This month we also went to Men’s Wearhouse to look at tuxes for Chris and the guys, and the process was so quick and painless I almost couldn’t believe it. The consultant there gave us a great deal for Chris, our groomsmen, and other siblings/parents. We were worried it was going to be difficult since everyone is literally all over the country…seriously, we have people in New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, Virginia, Iowa, and of course Florida…but she laid it all out and made it very easy for us. We have a “group code” and each member of the party just has to go get fitted at their local Men’s Wearhouse and add their sizes to the group, and then at wedding time they’ll all be ordered to OUR Men’s Wearhouse so we can pick them up together! Everyone’s going to look so good, I can’t wait to see it all come together!

Also related to attire I’ve been looking into some alterations places for my dress this month. I’m a little nervous because I’m getting a decent number of changes made to my dress (nothing too drastic, but I don’t wanna say what it is in case Chris reads this haha) but I’m sure that whoever I find will do a great job. Fingers crossed!

Invites/Stationery

The biggest thing in this category is that we made and sent our save the dates this month!!!

save the date

Our maid of honor Ana was kind enough to design them and we printed them using Vistaprint. They turned out so beautifully, I’m in love. We sent them out about 2 weeks ago and I’ve heard back from lots of people saying how much they liked them, so yay!! It was fun to see them on everyone’s fridge when we were visiting Chris’s family in Pittsburgh last week haha

Next up, we need to design our invitations and all other paper-y products. The big things I have in mind are the table numbers and the programs. I have ideas of what we want them to look like, so hopefully it all comes together.

Honeymoon

My favorite part of planning has definitely been our honeymoon!! I have a whole spreadsheet just for the honeymoon…typical of me… and it’s so fun and exciting to see it all coming together. Last month we had booked all our flights and now we have booked all our hotels as well, the biggest of which being our room at Grand Californian in Disneyland, and our room at Aulani!!

The remaining “big” things we have to book include our transportation and any activities, like the tour we want to do in Disneyland and any dining we want to lock in. But most of the BIG BIG things are done! So glad to have all the flights and hotels booked, so at least we know we are going haha

Next Up…

I feel like we’ve gotten so much done just in the past month and a half, but we still have a lot to do! Next on the to do list…

  • Pester the bridal party/family members to get fitted and order their items
  • Do some more cake tastings and book
  • Decide if we are doing the flowers ourselves
  • Figure out hotel arrangements for everyone
  • Design invites
  • Research hair options (I’m doing my own makeup!)
  • Schedule alterations appointments
  • Figure out what Teddy’s going to wear!!

Those all sound like such tiny things but it feels like they all add up to a lot! Six months does NOT feel like very much time but I have confidence we will get it all done somehow. I’m still in the stage of “wedding planning is so fun yay!!” and haven’t quite gotten to the super stressful part yet, so hopefully we can stay this way haha

Hope you enjoyed this post!! I’ll continue to update as time goes on of course 🙂 thanks for reading as always!!

    Oh my goodness!
I am obsessed with the color you have chosen for your bridesmaids and groomsmen. 💜💜

My wedding is about 4.5 months out and I have gone for a very similar color with a Marsala/deep burgundy dress and tie! Love it! 💜❤️

ahh thank you!! We love that deep plum especially for a winter wedding, I think it’s going to look so nice with the grey 😀
