Target Beauty Box August 2017

Coming right on the heels of the Target Beauty Box Analysis post, I have this month’s Target box review!!

box

Target Beauty Box

  • Cost: $5-10 – this month’s was $7 (I think?)
  • Frequency: Monthly, but you have to order it each time. I get emails from My Subscription Addiction to remind me when each box goes on sale!
  • Type of products: Deluxe samples and sometimes full sized versions of beauty products
  • Reviews from my previous boxes here!

routine

This month’s theme was “Routine”. My interpretation is that people are getting back into the routine of things with school starting up again – not that that’s really relevant to me since I’m not in school and no part of my life is really routine haha. But I appreciate it nonetheless. I like the pretty maroon/red tones of the packaging this month.

all 2

We received six products this month! You may recall from my Target Box analysis post that normally these boxes contain 7-9 items – this is actually the first time I’ve received fewer than 7, which was interesting to me! Let’s take a closer look at what’s inside.

SpaLife Nourishing Facial Mask – Orange
$2.49 value

Target is truly after my heart with another sheet mask this month <3 This one is by the brand SpaLife, which I’ve never tried before. Looking on the website they have a bunch of varieties – I saw a pineapple, papaya, grapefruit and a lot more! The one I got was orange and it’s quite nice. The mask itself is bright yellow which I wasn’t expecting – the sheet masks I normally use are always white so it was a nice surprise! It also obviously smelled citrusy but not overwhelmingly so.

Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antipersperant
$5.49 value

The first thing I noticed about this month’s box was how much heavier it felt than usual, and I think these next two items are definitely the culprits! First there’s this deodorant spray which is…interesting. I’ve never used spray deodorant so I figured this was a good excuse as any to try it out. It’s an aerosol can with a tiny little spray nozzle that creates a very very fine mist as it comes out. It claims to be invisible with no white marks on over 100 colors and last up to 48 hours. I don’t dislike the idea of a spray deodorant, but unfortunately I found that the scent lingers a long time after use. I guess that’s a good thing, because I’d rather smell that than be stinky, but I don’t like that I could still smell it on myself even hours after applying. The scent isn’t even bad or anything, just not something I want to smell all day lol. I don’t think I’d buy this on my own – just personal preference!

wipes

Up & Up Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
$3.84 value

Next is a FULL PACKAGE of makeup wipes – I was so excited and somewhat surprised that they actually sent out a full pack haha. It contains 25 wipes which is really a decent amount! Like I’ve mentioned before, I don’t use makeup wipes often, but now and then I do reach for one when I’m feeling lazy or tired. Up & Up is Target’s in-house brand, and I get lots of my household and daily items from this brand. These wipes claim to be comparable to the Neutrogena wipes (some of which we received last month, funny enough) which happen to be the best, in my opinion. I’m happy to say that these really are the closest I’ve found to living up to Neutrogena – they remove all of my makeup easily and much better than other brands. The only difference is really the fragrance. I really like these wipes and I will definitely get a lot of use out of them.

Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strip
$0.75 value

Next is another single-use item for the month: a cleansing pore strip. I normally use the Target brand pore strips and honestly I don’t really see a difference between them and the Biore ones. The only major thing is that this particular strip was “limited edition” so it’s really pretty and in different packaging from the normal plain ones! I’d buy them if they came in pretty colors normally but I could only find plain white ones on the website…so I guess I’ll stick to Up & Up pore strips for now haha

herbal

Herbal Essences Argan Oil Shampoo
$0.62 value

Herbal Essences isn’t a brand I normally buy but not because I dislike them – I just have so many other shampoos to go through that I kinda forget about other brands haha. This argan oil shampoo claims to repair and renew hair so it looks more healthy and shiny. I’ve only been washing my hair 1-2 times a week lately so I haven’t had a chance to use this yet – but it sure smells good! I feel like Herbal Essences products always smell amazing though so that’s no surprise!

Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser
$1.27 value

Finally – the last item in the box was a gentle cleansing scrub from Garnier. I’ve used a lot of Garnier skincare before that I’ve liked, and I actually have the moisturizer from this “Clearly Brighter” line and I really like it. It has tiny little cleansing beads which you can kind of see in the second pic. I’m not a huge fan of cleansers with micro beads but this one is pretty gentle. I also like that it contains vitamin C, a great ingredient for your skin. Overall I like it!

A final quick overview of this month’s items, along with the coupon they send in every box:

card

The total value of all the items in this box was $14.49, which is surprisingly low for Target boxes, but it did only contain six items. I’m happy with the contents for the most part but I do think they could have easily thrown in one more product…considering two of the items in this box were one-time-use and two of them were full sized, it just feels a bit unbalanced. Maybe a nice makeup item would have pulled it all together…just saying 🙂

all 3

That’s all for my Target August Box review! I hope you enjoyed this post and don’t forget to check out my Target Beauty Box Analysis post and the rest of my review posts if you haven’t already 🙂 thanks for reading!!
