Our Honeymoon – Day 9 – The Last Full Day

This is post #9 in my series all about our honeymoon! If you haven’t already, make sure you read the other posts first – they’re listed chronologically here 🙂

DAY 9 – SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 11

Today is our last FULL day in Aulani 😭 But weren’t going to let it get us down because today was to be a day full of rest and relaxation. That’s because we were headed to Laniwai, Aulani’s spa!

But first, it was time for some breakfast. We popped down the quick service location to grab a few things and brought them back up for breakfast on the balcony.

We had French toast and some donuts – and were joined by a little birdy friend!

After breakfast we headed down to the spa, where we had an appointment for a couples massage. This was an activity both of us were looking forward to SO much. The spa looked beautiful and we were so excited to check it out and relax!

Briefly pausing here because I actually wrote a full review of our spa experience here!! I decided to publish it separately because there were SO many photos, and I wanted to be able to share all of them without taking up too much space in another post 🙂

It should go without saying that we had a fabulous time at the spa!!! We ended up spending over 3 hours there – we pretty much only left because we were getting hungry! We went for a quick lunch at the poolside location again. This time we got teriyaki chicken wings and some soft tacos.

I also enjoyed another Mickey shave ice!

After that I was actually headed back to the spa where I got a manicure! It was another fun splurge that I don’t normally do – but hey, it was our honeymoon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And all my wedding nail polish had come off so I just wanted something nice that I could leave on for a while. I got a simple French manicure.

When I got back to the room with Chris, this was waiting on the bed:

He had gone shopping for me while I was gone! Good husband. He got me this beautiful hibiscus necklace!

We decided to head down to the shops before dinner and get our souvenir shopping out of the way. I will say I didn’t buy that much – we only had carry ons with us after all, so I couldn’t buy the whole store even if I wanted to. I wanted to buy every single Shellie Mae item but I resisted. Everything there was so cute!

So much Aulani-specific stuff!!

I really wanted this white spirit jersey, but they didn’t have it in my size! But I ended up buying a superior sparkly pink one after we got home so it’s okay.

After the damage was done we headed back upstairs with our new merch. Here’s the haul:

It’s really not that much…right? Especially since it’s all pretty small, and some of it was gifts for other people (two of the Shellie plushes and some of the pins and magnets). I got a magnetic Shellie, the Aulani Alex & Ani bracelet, a Shellie keychain, the tsum tsums (which were 4 for $10 and I can’t resist a deal), a Gelatoni magnet, and a Shellie pin. Chris got the Stitch print and a beautiful Aulani patterned photo frame. All in all I think we did pretty good! Now that I’m home of course I wish I had gotten more, but I think we did really well not going overboard 🙂

After our shopping we actually headed back to the shop to look at some of our photopass photos. We were still deciding whether to buy the CD (spoiler: we did) and wanted to see how they were turning out. Thanks to our beach photoshoot the night before we were pretty much convinced that we had to get it! However, the cast member there told us to wait til the absolute last minute to get our CD and take all the photos we wanted first, because they could not be added on afterward. We took her advice and promised to come back the next day to pick it up!

We headed back out to the beach to just take in the whole scene – it was our last night there, and it was starting to set in that soon we wouldn’t be in this beautiful place anymore 🙁

By this point it was pretty much time for dinner, so we headed to the site of our last supper: back to ‘Ama’Ama, where we had enjoyed breakfast a few days before.

I was honestly a little sad at this point because it was all hitting me that our honeymoon was almost over!! I tried to just enjoy our last meal and not think about it too much. It was easier once we ordered because everything was so good!

IMG_9211

I got this drink again, the Liliko’i-lada, which looked much different than when I got it at the pool. Still great though!

Chris got a steak which he was obsessed with.

I got scallops which I was also obsessed with. I think I have voiced my love of scallops many times on this blog so I’ll spare you this time.

And we got this amazing truffle mac & cheese to split. Everything was so good and it was a great last dinner. We were too full for dessert but they gave us these cute chocolates anyway!

After dinner we had one last really cool thing to do which was a stargazing activity! This also came off of our honeymoon registry and was graciously gifted to us by our friends Amy & Benjamin, which we greatly appreciated because it was SO cool!! We had tried to schedule it earlier in the week but it had been cancelled due to cloud cover, so we were worried we wouldn’t be able to do it – but luckily on our last night the sky was clear so it was a go!

They led us out to a very dark area where all the lights had been turned off, right next to the water. There we met our guide of sorts, who was pretty much a star enthusiast. This guy knew everything about the sky and the stars and everything in between. He had this super cool laser pointer that shot up all the way to the sky??? It was wild. There was also a MASSIVE telescope that he positioned for us to look through at various things. He knew seriously everything about the stars, could tell you the name of any star and how old it was and could even point to any constellation you wanted – he pointed out my beautiful Taurus for me! ♉️

For obvious reasons I did not take any photos of this activity, but it was seriously so cool. He showed us various parts of the sky, constellations, old and young stars, stars of different colors, and even a few other galaxies. I don’t even know how else to describe it but amazing. It was an underrated activity for sure – there were only a few of us there – but I am so glad that we did it.

Once we were done with our astronomical activity, we walked around a bit on the empty resort grounds, kind of just stalling because we did NOT want to go back upstairs and pack 😭

But alas – we knew we couldn’t waste time forever, and we headed upstairs to get ready to leave the next day. We packed up surprisingly quickly and got ready for bed for the last time!

I’m getting sad all over again just writing about this! There’s just one day left of our honeymoon (maybe 2 if you count travel time!) and I’m grateful to have been able to write about it all on here. I hope you’ve enjoyed it so far like I have and that you’ll stick with me for the finale that should be coming very soon! <3

thanks for reading this one, as always 🙂
