Tourin’ Over California – Day 7

For today’s episode of Tourin’ Over California, we were SO excited to spend a FULL day in Disneyland!!

DAY 7 – SEPTEMBER 18, 2018

After our brief taste of Disneyland yesterday, we were more than ready to get up and going and fully enjoy the park. But first, we had to move hotels – Paradise Pier wasn’t available for every night of our stay, so we had stayed at the Best Western for our first night before moving over to Paradise Pier for the remainder. It actually worked out really well because since we were checking in that day, we got to enjoy Extra Magic Hours that morning! The Best Western was really close to Paradise Pier so it was just a short walk to check in and drop off our luggage, and then head out to the park.

The front desk cast member gave us a food guide to all the Halloween treats being offered – we would make good use of this!!

Before long we were back in the park.

To start off we were headed to Fantasyland to knock out some of the dark rides. We intended to start with Peter Pan, but the line was already too long so we instead popped over to Snow White, Mr. Toad, Pinocchio, and Mad Tea Party!

We also did Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain, Winnie the Pooh, and bought our Maxpass! It was turning out to be SUCH a productive morning!

Soon it was snack time – time for Dole whips, tiger tails and kebabs, and my first Disneyland churro of the trip!!

After our snacks we used our fastpass at Indiana Jones and then did a loop on the Disneyland Railroad. After a very full morning, it was time for our lunch which was at Carnation Cafe!

Carnation Cafe is one of my favorites and it made a great spot for our first day lunch. I had a baked potato soup which was AMAZING, and we all got the Halloween special which was a “haunted firehouse chicken sandwich”!

That sandwich was HUGE, I couldn’t finish it! But it was so delicious and all of us loved it. Our meals made us a bit sleepy so we headed over to one of the best low key attractions to relax a bit – Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

It was cool to see this bench from Griffith Park where Walt brainstormed the idea for Disneyland, because we had just seen another one in San Francisco at the Walt Disney Family Museum a few days ago!

Love the shoutout to my home, Epcot!

We also said hi to some of our favorite friends in the Hall of Achievement at the end of the attraction:

After this I met up with a friend who works at Disneyland GR, Jess!! It was the first time I had met her in person after having a ton of mutual friends and it was so cool to meet up and talk with a Guest Relations cast member from the “other side” haha. It’s always so much fun to see friends on our Disney trips and it was so great to finally “meet” Jess in person!

By this time the early morning wake up was catching up to us and we were more than ready for a midday nap. Luckily, I got a call that our room at Paradise Pier was ready so we headed on over!! A quick room tour (it’s better in the vlog):

We were so excited also that with our luggage we had a package delivered to us! We had ordered some matching shirts to be delivered to the hotel because it wouldn’t have gotten to us at home before leaving. We were so excited to open them!! We’ll be wearing them on a future day but here’s a sneak peek:

Once our bags were delivered we were passed right out for a nap!! And it was a lovely nap. After we were sufficiently rested it was back to the park, but this time we were heading to DCA for our next fastpass which was Guardians of the Galaxy!!!

This is one of my favorite rides ever and I was so excited to go on again! For Halloween they have a special overlay called Monsters After Dark, which is basically a more spooky version of the ride. We all loved it and it was the first of MANY times we rode it on this trip!

After Guardians we set out to decide what else to do – and shockingly, ANA suggested that we ride the Fun Wheel! This was extremely surprising because she’s the one who is afraid of heights and honestly, I wasn’t sure we were going to be able to get her on it at all. But she said she was feeling pretty good…so off we were!!

So we did!! Okay, this part honestly is best experienced by watching the vlog. It was SO much fun and there was another party of three with us in the car that was actually way more scared than us which is really hilarious to listen to on the video haha. And it was also at this point that we really weren’t taking as many photos because we were focused on vlogging so it’s all gonna be mostly there!!

So we actually ended up having so much fun on the Fun Wheel! After that we did Incredicoaster which we all also really loved – I was a big fan of California Screamin’ before so I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the new version, but I ended up loving it so much!!

Then it was dinner time where we had one of the best meals of the trip with one of the worst photos…

This was the special Halloween bacon cheddar ale soup from Pacific Wharf. Omg, it was AMAZING. It’s well-documented how much I love soup and this was just a stunning soup. It was so creamy and delicious and the flavor was perfect, and all of us loved it. AND we mobile-ordered it so we were eating it before the people in line in front of us had even gotten up to the counter. Amazing.

After that we only had a little bit of time before the park closed so we rushed over to Radiator Springs Racers to squeeze it in. As a party full of Cars-haters, we were unsure what to think of it – but we actually really enjoyed it. I had never been on it at night before and I thought it was way cooler at night than during the day!

Once we got off Radiator Springs the park was closed so we popped over to Disneyland for one last ride. We had been trying ALL DAY to get on Haunted Mansion, and finally it was our chance. Unfortunately for us, the ride had the special holiday overlay of Haunted Mansion Holiday, which is COMPLETELY Nightmare Before Christmas-themed. This is great if you’re fans of Nightmare Before Christmas…which we are not. So it was kind of disappointing that Sarah and Ana’s first time on Disneyland’s Mansion was with the overlay, but it’s okay – we’ll just have to come back 😎

And with that, both parks were closed and it was time to head back for the night to our hotel! We tried unsuccessfully to find me some ice cream on the way home but I decided to just get a milkshake the next day to make up for it. Overall it was a very full day and we got SO much done! Lots of amazing food, TONS of rides, and just a really great first full day in the parks. We still have a few more days ahead of us to get everything else done and we were so excited to keep going!!

That’s all for this day of the Tourin’ Over California series!! There’s only a few videos left but they’re some REALLY great ones and I’m sad for this series to be almost over. I really hope you are enjoying it all so far – I know I am going to love going back to see how much fun we had and remember it all.
