Fab Fit Fun Box Review – Spring 2019

Hard to believe it’s already March and a new season is already upon us, signaled by the arrival of my latest Fab Fit Fun box! Here’s my review of my Spring 2019 box:

I got my first edition of this box in December which you can read my review of here. It was pretty good overall, with a few items that I loved and others that weren’t as good. As a reminder, this box is seasonal with a selection of lifestyle items, and costs $50 each box.

When it came time to pick my customizations for spring, I was hesitantly optimistic at the choices. I was so excited when it arrived! You can see me unboxing it as part of my weekly vlog this week. So far I’m happy with nearly everything! Here’s what was inside this time.

First, the magazine describing all the choices. It also has little articles and tidbits on how to use your new items, like recipes and techniques. This issue has an interview with Venus Williams and shows her using a few of the items.

Here’s the spread of all the items. As for what I picked…

Unplug Meditation Aromatherapy Diffuser
$55 value

“Turn your home into an Unplug Meditation studio. Diffuse “Happy” while watching the diffuser change colors for the ultimate zen experience.”

The first customization option I had was between a floral robe, a backpack, and this diffuser:

The robe is stunning and has a great value at $84, but I knew that realistically I would never wear it, and I already have a floral robe very similar to that. The backpack looks nice, but I already have multiple smaller backpacks, and I wasn’t really interested in a canvas one. So the diffuser was my choice! I’m not sure I buy that this is worth $55 – I would probably pay about $20 for it – but it’s cute. It’s pretty small and it fits in with any type of decor. It also comes with one essential oil, “Happy”, which is orange scented (my second orange-scented essential oil from this same box already…lol):

My only issue with it was that it only comes with a USB cord, so it needs to be placed either near a computer or you have to get your own USB charging block to use it. Not a huge deal but a minor inconvenience.

I also tried out the color changing ability and it’s pretty cool, if a bit hard to see in the daytime:

My overall verdict is that it’s cute and was the best choice for me out of the three, but definitely not worth $55 (it’s listed as $50 on Amazon right now). I low key wish I had chosen the robe!

Quay Australia “My Girl” Sunglasses in Black/Smoke
$55 value

“With black hardware, chic metal accents, and an oversized frame, these cat-eye sunnies can be rocked by any gal.”

I’ve heard of Quay Australia being talked about as a pretty high end sunglasses brand, so I was relatively excited to get these as one of my customizations. The choices for this one were two pairs of Quay sunglasses, a picnic set, or a sleeping mask. I knew I would NEVER use the picnic set despite its cuteness, and I don’t need a sleeping mask, so I chose the sunglasses I liked the best!

I chose these because I love cat-eye glasses and living in Florida I can always use more sunglasses!! I really like them and while I personally wouldn’t pay $55 for them, they do seem really good quality. And like I said, Quay is a well-known brand so maybe this is how much rich people pay for sunglasses. I always buy mine at Target because I lose them constantly. Hopefully I don’t lose these. They also came with a really nice case!

Overall verdict: I really like these and I’m happy with my choice!

Giadzy Copper Plated Measuring Spoons
$15 value

“Perfect for baking or cooking, the copper-plated measuring spoon set is the perfect chic addition to your kitchen.”

I love these! They’re from Giada de Laurentiis’s line of cookware – I’m not like a huge fan of hers or anything, I just thought these were pretty. The choices for this one were the spoons, a lotion, or a “mystery item”. I loved the spoons while I don’t need another lotion and the mystery items always worry me in case I hate them…so the spoons it was!

Our current set of measuring spoons are getting old and a little grungy so these will be a lovely new set. The value is listed as $15 but I bet you could find similar for way cheaper. Still, I’m happy with my choice.

The2Bandits Athens Necklace
$30 value

“Simple yet elegant, an iridescent necklace is a timeless piece to add to your collection.”

For the next few items, since I’m an annual subscriber I was able to choose what I wanted. Non-annual subscribers got a random choice. The choices for this one were this necklace, a setting powder, or a water bottle. This was a harder choice for me because I like all the options.

A quick note about FFF customization: For any of the customization options, you can also choose to get multiple items and pay $10 extra for each one – if you’re early enough in the customization process. When I first made my selections I had the option of choosing nearly any items I wanted, but when I went back to double-check my selections that option was no longer there! I guess as it gets closer to shipment time they limit how many people are allowed to double up on items, to ensure that every subscriber gets the choice. Still, $10 is not bad for some of these items – like if that floral robe was really worth $80 or whatever, getting it for an additional $10 is a steal! However, I didn’t feel strongly enough about NEEDING any of the other things this month, so I didn’t do that.

Back to this choice! I don’t really use loose setting powder and I don’t need another water bottle, despite that one being really cute, plus I was nervous about getting a “randomly selected” color that I hated. I really like the necklace so I chose that and I’m very happy with it! It’s simple and classy and I really like the crystal-y iridescent look.

Daily Concepts Daily Detox Brush
$18 value

“Your body needs TLC too. Exfoliate layers of dead skin and stimulate circulation with the brush’s natural bristles and massaging nodules.”

This is the first category where I didn’t really feel drawn to ANY of the items. The choices were a cleanser, this brush, and a jump rope.

None of those were really calling my name, so I chose the best-seeming option which was this brush.

It’s for deep exfoliating and despite the word “daily” in the name, I definitely couldn’t use this every day! It’s probably a more once-a-week thing for me.

The bristles are a bit scratchy but the nodules are massaging and nice. I wouldn’t use this dry like they suggested – it’s just too scratchy for my taste to do that. I like it, but this is definitely my least favorite item in the box!

Ouai Leave In Conditioner
$26 value

“We’re OUAI obsessed with this multitasking leave-in conditioner. It works all day to smooth, soften, and detangle hair with moisturizing properties and enhanced heat protection.”

For this and the rest of the items, every subscriber received them in their box. I’m really excited about the inclusion of this one because Ouai is a great brand for hair care and I have actually tried a sample of this product before and loved it! It makes my hair super soft and smooth and I’m happy to have a full size of it.

Dr. Brandt Skincare No More Baggage Eye De-Puffing Gel
$42 value

“Visibly reduce the look of under-eye bags and dark circles with this breakthrough solution.”

Dr. Brandt is another really well-known and high end skincare line, so I was also excited to try this. It’s basically a salmon colored corrector for dark circles. I haven’t tried this yet but I’m interested to see if it can ACTUALLY hide the bags under my eyes as other color correctors have tried and failed to do!

Manna Kadar Champagne Body Scrub
$24 value

“Formulated with charcoal and Dead Sea minerals, the luxe and gentle body scrub removes dirt for polished, hydrated, and refreshed skin.”

This body scrub definitely seems like it could have been a generic item tossed in at the last second, but it smells so good that I’m not mad at it. I like using these to exfoliate (as opposed to the semi-scratchy brush listed above) so I’ll definitely make use of it.

So that’s everything in my box! Overall, the total value of all my choices is $265, and I paid $50 for everything. It’s a lower reported value than my Winter 2018 box at $332, but to be fair I did chose some of the lower-value items this time. In the end I’m pretty pleased with my selections, but again I feel that they chose items with hiked up prices to begin with to inflate the overall value of the box. As stated above, I also would never pay full price for some of these things ($55 for a small USB-powered diffuser??) so there’s a lot to consider when talking about the “value” of the box.

My favorite items this time are the necklace, the sunglasses, and the leave in conditioner, while my least favorite is the detox brush (just not something I would normally buy). I think my overall rating is probably 7/10 in terms of items and suggested value.

If you liked any of these items I linked them individually above, and if you wanna subscribe to Fab Fit Fun, you can use my discount link here to get some money off your first box 🙂

That’s all for today! Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time <3
