Very Merrytime Cruise Part 4!

I know it’s been ages since my last one but I am determined to finally finish writing about our Very Merrytime Cruise in November of 2018 – and I’m almost done!!! This is all about day 4 on board. Last time we left off with seasickness and a rocky night…luckily today was a LOT better:

DAY 4 – NOVEMBER 15, 2018

Like I said, today had gotten off to a rough start due to the extremely shaky seas the night before which caused us to get seasick! Luckily we woke up feeling MUCH better and ready to enjoy our last day at sea. Just look at this navigator for the day:

We were up early for breakfast first:

And then our first activity of the day was a fun seasonal one…decorating gingerbread cookies!

It was so much fun and particularly for me, since on my very first cruise many years ago we decorated gingerbread houses on board the Disney Fantasy! 20 year old me with our gingerbread house:

And here’s 25 year old me with my gingerbread cookie:

It was fun! Next we had some downtime before our next activity so we spent a little time in our room getting everything ready to go the next day, had a quick lunch and then settled in for some trivias!

We listened in on movie quotes trivia (which was HARD) and then played brainteaser trivia, which we did really well on and only lost in the tiebreaker round! The host gave us medals anyway because the winners had been on several cruises and were experts – I called them our “first loser” medals haha. Next up was Disney Tunes trivia, which I was SO excited about because I knew we could kill it…and we did!!

The way this trivia worked was they had a pianist there playing various Disney songs (just a few lines). You had to guess the song, the movie it was from, and answer another trivia question about that movie. We ended up getting a perfect score and then going to a tiebreaker AGAIN and this time we beat the competition! It was so much fun and so exciting to win! This was my favorite trivia I’ve done on any DCL ship and I left a lot of it in the vlog because I loved it so much 🙂

Also…something cool about Very Merrytime Cruises – Christmas cookies and hot chocolate as you’re walking down the hallway:

Next, we listened in on the “Ultimate” Disney Trivia, but didn’t play ourselves because we didn’t want to be late to our next thing…a SPA appointment!! Chris had booked as a surprise a couples massage for us which was sooo amazing! I didn’t vlog in the spa for obvious privacy reasons but I did get a FEW photos:

The massage was amazing! It was our first time getting a massage on a cruise (we previously did one on our honeymoon at Aulani) and it was just fabulous. The rocking of the boat actually even added to the relaxing feeling and felt like it was gently rocking us to sleep! I felt so relaxed and pampered afterward.

After that it was sadly time for our final show of the cruise! They saved the best for last with a show called Disney Dreams – it was another typical DCL show that shoves as many characters on stage as they can but I thought it was really cute and charming. I didn’t film in there but if you want to watch it, it’s on youtube!

After that it was almost time for our last dinner on board! I was getting so sad to leave everything – we had had such a great time and everything felt particularly magical because it was all Christmasy and perfect 😭 We were soaking up the Christmasy atmosphere as much as we could before going to dinner.

Finally we headed down to wait for our dinner at Animator’s Palate:

The Animator’s Palate exists on the Dream and the Fantasy, but I wasn’t expecting it to be TOTALLY different on the Wonder!! On the classic ships, the restaurant is all black and white…but as the meal went on, we quickly noticed some surprises were in store…

The place was BEAUTIFUL and I was so excited to check it out and eat there!!

The menu was the same as the Dream and Fantasy, featuring some classic faves:

Around the restaurant were animated panels showing sketches of Disney characters:

Here’s what we ordered:

For starters, we had two of my ALL TIME favorite DCL dishes:

  • Black truffle pasta purseittes: pasta purses filled with truffle-scented cheese and coated with a delicate champagne sauce
  • and the return of the baked potato and cheddar cheese soup!! I ordered it at dinner on a previous day because I love it so much <3

For our mains:

  • Pennete bolognese: pennete pasta mixed with a rich bolognese sauce garnished with shaved parmigiano-reggiano and toasted garlic ciabatta
  • Lemon-thyme marinated all-natural chicken breast: on top of sour cream mashed potatoes, roasted root vegetables and grain mustard jus

They were both great too!

Midway through the meal we started to notice that the sketches around us were changing. Where they were once black and white, they were starting to show in color! Before our dessert came out, the entire restaurant took part in a SUPER cool animated show on the screens that turned the entire place from black and white to full color. It was SO cool and even featured a special guest – you can see most of it on the vlog! It was amazing and honestly made me a bit emotional because I wasn’t expecting it. It was really cool to have something really make me feel the Disney magic again 🙂

After our brief interlude, it was time for dessert!

I got the chocolate fudge cheesecake, and Chris went off-menu and ordered the Grand Marnier souffle I had had at Triton’s a few days prior! He ate it up so fast I couldn’t even get a photo!

After a long but delicious meal, we spent some time talking to our table mates and saying goodbyes. We were completely STUFFED and we were the last people to leave the restaurant at the end of the night! It felt like a perfect sendoff and the best end-of-the-cruise dinner we could ask for.

After dinner we didn’t want to go to bed just yet, so we decided to walk around the ship one last time and take photos of everything we could. Enjoy this brief photo tour of the Disney Wonder:

We took it all in for our last night before heading back to our room:

Inside was one last friend waiting for us:

As well as a very sad sight: our “Welcome to Galveston” info letter and luggage tags!

Finally pooped from our exciting last day, we turned on White Christmas one last time and collapsed in bed!

Our last day on board was exhausting but absolutely perfect! We had such a fun day at sea and were so sad that our time on board was almost over. We still had a day of travel ahead of us so stay tuned to see our final day of this trip. I hope you’ve enjoyed this merrytime adventure so far as much as I have loved reliving it!
